Sutton’s Steve Birkic doing print right!!

Thursday, May 31st, 2007

The Ubertor real estate website software is built with many features to help real estate agents market their properties on and offline in the best possible way. Steve Birkic of Sutton Westcoast is using the unique URL feature to promote his listings in his print advertising. This feature allows his potential clients to find the listing they are interested in quickly and easily. Here is an advertisement that I saw in the Real Estate Book that shows Steve’s use of the unique URL feature:
steve birkic

See how he has “www.stevebirkic.com/160” under each one of his listings.

This gives the reader the ability to type in that unique URL into their web browser and they will be automatically taken to that specific listings. No searching, no clicking. Just type in that unique address and the user is whisked away to that listings.

The neat thing about the Ubertor software is that you can take it to the next level. If you are interested in registering a domain name that is specific to that listing, instead of Steve using www.stevebirkic.com/160 he could use 1333WestGeorgia.com and have that go right to the listing. Either way, the options are available to all Ubertor clients.

Check out the “Mini-Site” tab within any of your listings:

Google Maps cranks it up a notch!

Wednesday, May 30th, 2007

Google has rolled out a new street level view to their Google Maps system. It actually lets you take a look around at street level so that you can see a sort of 3D view of a specific area. They have only photographed New York, Denver, San Francisco, Las Vegas and Miami but I’m sure more cities will be done soon. Check it out here. You can zoom around on the image, push it left and right as well as navigate down the street. What’s next? Live video from every street corner?
More here, here, here and here.

Clear Search Engine Optimization

Tuesday, May 29th, 2007

The team over at ClearSEO has been providing search engine optimization (SEO) results to some of our clients over the past few months. Agents in Vancouver, Victoria and Osoyoos have been taking advantage of their SEO services and seeing some great results. Just this morning, I received a great email from ClearSEO praising our Realtor website system for its SEO benefits. Here is what I received:

Ubertor is a well designed and functional content management system
for Realtors. It is flexible for both users on beginner level as well
as the advanced level. The Ubertor staff is always helpful and willing
to listen to user suggestions in order to constantly improve the
system and adapt it to user needs.

The system is structured and designed in such a way that it allows
easy access and control for a SEO professional or any other user of
the system. With one click of the mouse it is possible to go in and
edit the main content, page title, meta description and keyword tags.
Its auto blogging and auto title generation features are making the
website search engine friendly without the real estate agents even
knowing about it.

more powerful than Craigslist?

Wednesday, May 23rd, 2007

facebookAre you on Facebook?
Most likely you’re not. But you should think about taking a look at it.

What is Facebook?
Well, no one says it better than Facebook themselves: “Facebook is a social utility that connects people with friends and others who work, study and live around them. People use Facebook to keep up with friends, upload an unlimited number of photos, share links and videos, and learn more about the people they meet.”

Check out Facebook, it is worth your time to open a free account and check it out. I guarantee that you will have “friends” come out of the woodwork that you have not see or heard from in years. Trust me, try it.

What makes it more powerful than Craigslist?
Facebook has rolled out a fully functional “marketplace” where you can list what you have for sale and what your looking to buy. Real estate agents have already begun taking advantage of it by loading listings into the Facebook Marketplace. It could become a little more powerful than craigslist as it puts the marketplace item automatically in front of all of their “friends” within Facebook.

Check out MJ Ankenman’s assignment that she posted in the Facebook Marketplace. I only saw it because she is a “friend” of mine on Facebook and it shows up on my Facebook homepage. It is quite powerful.

On another note to show how powerful Facebook is. I changed my “status” on Facebook and saw immediate results. (Your Facebook status is something that you can change anytime you want and it updates all of your “friends” Facebook home pages.) I changed my Facebook status to say: Stephen Jagger is looking for prizes for the upcoming Vancouver College Alumni Basketball Tournament.

Within 24 hours I had 5 emails offering prizes for the tournament and I did not have to email or phone anyone. Trust me, try Facebook, you might find that it is addictive.

Joel says: Realtors Flunk Web Marketing 101

Wednesday, May 16th, 2007

Our pal Joel Burslem of the famous futureofrealestatemarketing.com blog and more recently INMAN News and of course fellow Vancouverite writes about the NAR’s Center for Realtor Technology recently released 2007 REALTOR Technology Survey. **Click to read the full 2007 REALTOR® Technology Survey (PDF)** Here is what he had to say:

One highlight from the survey jumps out at me at being shockingly low however.

* 65 percent of respondents have their own business Web site.

65 percent! Wasn’t that like a C- in college? That’s barely above passing!

We’ve passed Web 1.0, we’re halfway through Web 2.0 and well on our way to Web 3.0 and only 65 percent of Realtors have a web site? What gives?

I agree with Joel. More agents should have websites. Obviously I have a very biased opinion, but I just don’t see how an agent does business without a website. A website is the cheapest form of advertising available to a real estate agent. It should be the center of the agents marketing.

Here is a thought… if you are interested in trying an Ubertor website give me a call and I will setup a website for you plus give you the first 90 days FREE. This offer is only available for new websites on our system and we will require a credit card for payments to begin at 90 days. If you want to take me up on this offer, please call me directly at 604-537-4548. This offer is open to the first 50 agents that call. (UPDATE: Sorry, all gone)

Reno Condo Project Billboards in downtown Vancouver

Tuesday, May 15th, 2007

I have not see a billboard promoting a condo development in another city in a long time. Walking my dog this morning I noticed this billboard and took a quick picture. It is pushing a condo development in Reno, Nevada. It made me think:

Is this a sign that the real estate market is officially changing?
Are they advertising in Vancouver because condo projects still (pre) sell out in one day?
I wonder which cities they placed these billboards in? how did they pick?
