Gmail is amazing!. No spam! (at least, very little) If you are tired of getting spam in your inbox every day you need to move to Gmail.com.

The best part is that you can hide your Gmail address and mask it with your domain name.

Here are 5 things that drive me crazy when checking email:

1. Don’t write in ALL CAPS. It does not make it stand out, it makes it hard to read and people will skip it.
2. Don’t respond to an old email message with a new topic. Click on “compose” and start a fresh email.
3. Ensure that you have an email signature that has your phone number, email address and web address on it.
4. HTML Emails do not get through many email programs. (As I write this, I just got an HTML email into my Gmail and none of the images loaded.)
5. Subject lines are important. Make sure you take the time to write an accurate subject line.

Control Your Robots.txt file

As an advanced feature of the Ubertor system and another part of the SEO Enhancement you can control your Robots.txt file. “The robots exclusion standard, also known as the Robots Exclusion Protocol or robots.txt protocol, is a convention to prevent cooperating web spiders and other web robots from accessing all or part of a website which is, otherwise, publicly viewable. Robots are often used by search engines to categorize and archive web sites, or by webmasters to proofread source code.” (from Wikipedia.org) Click on the marketing tab within your control panel for more details. The is a feature that your search engine optimization person would take advantage of.

Video: Vancouver - the city, the massive underground project

Darren Barefoot points out a video about the construction of the new Canada Line rapid transit system that is going on right now under the streets of Vancouver, BC. The video is an interesting look at the underground construction project as well as our city in general. He has some great shots and it is worth the 3 minutes to watch it.

Eric, a worker on the Canada Line project writes:

“My co-worker Colin is a film maker, and a good one at that. He has two movies that have been accepted into the Sundance film festival coming up in January. As a Christmas gift, he put together a couple of shots of our work-site for the Costa Ricans to show their families the project and the city.”

Now you can Create Landing Pages Quickly and Easily

As part of the SEO Enhancement available in the Ubertor website system there is a new feature under the marketing tab called “Landing Page”. Within this feature you can quickly and easily create landing pages for your website.

What is a Landing Page? - “In online marketing a landing page, sometimes known as a lead capture page, is the page that appears when a potential customer clicks on an advertisement or a search-engine result link. The page will usually display content that is a logical extension of the advertisement or link, and that is optimized to feature specific keywords or phrases for indexing by search engines.” (from wikipedia.org)

So if your using Google Adwords to promote your business you should not have the ad going to your home page. You should have it going to a landing page within your website that is specific and targeted.

Now within the Ubertor system you can create landing pages quickly and easily. The great thing is that you can test your landing pages effectively. As I have mentioned many times in the past, Google does NOT like duplicate content. And if your testing different landing pages that happen to have some of the same content as other pages, Google can punish you. Well, not if your using the Ubertor landing page system. It is built with special code so that the search engines do NOT index them. That way you can test the same text but different titles or different text but the same titles. Or everything is the same except the lead generation form has different fields. The idea is to test, test, test.

The idea is that your ad is generating some sort of conversion. Instead of just having your ad pointing to your home page, put it to work. Ensure that your advertising money is getting you leads.

Start by creating some landing pages that are specific and targeted to whoever is clicking on your ad. Here is an example of a landing page that Rob Macpherson created for landlords.

You will also notice that there is no banner photo and no navigation on this page. The idea is to ensure that the visitor follows the steps that you want them to follow.

Customized Non Realtor Website

The team over at KuniDesigns.com is at it again, this time customizing a website that is on the Ubertor software but is not real estate related. Patricia Houlihan, a Realtor setup another website for her “living green” initiative. The goal of this website is to provide information aimed at assisting people in “living green”.
