Last night was the 1 year anniversary of the Vancouver Real Estate Technology Meetup Group. Over the past year we have had lots of great speakers, tons of attendees and exceptional networking. We hit a milestone early in the development of the meetup where we are the largest real estate agent meetup in North America. We have 345 members!!

The team over at Reachd.com did a presentation to the Vancouver Real Estate Technology Meetup tonight about Google, Google Adwords and how you can expose yourself further to the search engines. It was an excellent presentation. Alway great to see agents from all over the Lower Mainland come out to hang out, learn a little and enjoy some beverages.
After the presentation, agents Mike Rampf, Jeff Fitzpatrick, Jacky Levi, the guys from Lypp and myself sat and had a few drinks, some dinner and discussed Google Apps, Domain Name whois records, Ubertor software as well as a new offering from Lypp.com.

Joel’s professional background is in high tech marketing and consumer public relations and he has been working in marketing and communications for nearly ten years, most recently at Prudential Northwest Properties in Portland, Oregon.
In 2007 he joined the Inman News organization where he is helping developing many of their social media and next generation web initiatives.
Joel is also the author behind the hugely successful FutureofRealEstateMarketing.com which is a powerful force in the real estate blogging world.
On Monday July 9th 2007 we will combine the Vancouver Real Estate Technology Meetup with the Vancouver Young Professionals Meetup for a truly unique evening. In keeping with the feedback that we get from the Meetups, we have changed the lineup a little bit for this next Meetup.
We will have 2 speakers and 2 groups all in the same social networking environment.

Last nights Vancouver Real Estate Technology Meetup was a huge success. Not only did we have a great speaker but we made a change and combined the Vancouver Young Professionals Meetup with the event. It was a great networking event for agents, brokers and young professionals from all over the Lower Mainland.
Our speaker, Ron Usher of Bell Alliance spoke about going paperless in the real estate world and what his Law Firm / Notary has done to achieve their paperless goals. The May Real Estate Technology Meetup just finished and it was a great success and full of firsts.
- We ran an Ubertor Training session before the meetup and it was a great success. Thanks to Dara from realtysupport.ca for teaching the session. I think we will do it again next month as well.
- The Meetup was held for the first time on the 3rd floor of Ceilis Irish Pub which is a beautiful deck with a retractable roof.
- We had a sign-language translator on hand for a couple of new Meetup members. It was interesting to watch Nigel translate what was being said.
- It is the first time that I have loaded the Meetup photos to Facebook.com
